Description

Perfect chance to add this Toy Novelty Tin Badge to your collection. This is a Rare surviving recycled Tin metal Badge from the 1940's to the 1950's This type of item that was put on the front of a felt cowboy hat or felt garment and then the sharp tabs bent in to hold it in place).. I am not sure, but this has tremendous detail on the face of the cowboy to be generic in nature, my guess and only a guess is that it is Roy Rogers, but some one told me it might be James Arness from Gunsmoke , but don't know exactly. (if you know different, please let us know). Either way if you have a 1950's or 1960's blank felt cowboy hat, this could be a great edition. (I doubt that many survived in this condition) These were never used or applied and remain almost the same as the day they were stamped in the 1950's. These were stamped from metal from various tin items from the time, some good strength to the metal, pretty neat, they can have sharper edges that are meant to attach to cloth, so selling as collectible art only, wear and handle at your own caution and discretion. I think these are from Japan, just after War II, the Japanese economy was in shambles and many people turned to making novelty items to get by, these are one of those type of items, hand fabricated and certainly not perfect the way a laser machine would make today, but that is what makes these unique and charming. My best guess is that this is from either the late 1940's to 1950's, as it came from a small find of stamp recycled tin Cowboy items and badges that we have for sale as well, so check them all out before they are gone. It was my understanding that we sent a lot of our scrap tin to Japan during the 1940's and 1950's, especially during the period known as "Occupied" right after the war, I believe these are from that era.. This is a metal hat brooch, heavier metal then the typical 1960's or 1970's style, pin attachment is sharp. This is a unique item and western themes were very popular then as well, selling as stated, as we think we are correct on the origin, but are not exactly sure, but pretty sure of the time frame, selling as pictured. I doubt a lot survived as most were applied to hats that are long gone. These are mint or as close as a slightly tarnished penny metal pin could be from the 1950's . This one is new old stock, this is nice, not perfect, close, but always a chance of minor blemishes, Not perfect, but then again, they were novelty toys and were never perfect.. These are for collectors as they can have sharp metal exposed, selling as art and should not be Given TO SMALL Children under any circumstances, as SAFETY STANDARDS have changed.... This is part of a good sized collection of vintage stamped Metal dime store and Vending machine items that were stored in a box for years that were in a vendors storage for decades and never sold to the public until know. This is about 1.25 inches high and 1.5 inches wide (measurements are approx. please). I would think these are best for Display, as they are now collectors Items.
